Okay, I had a cruddy week at the grocery store. I spent $57.15. So, I went over even though I had some saved up. So, that means I have $47.17 to spend at the store this next week. That should be manageable. We'll see.
Otherwise I did really good. I didn't eat out at all and didn't buy anything but gas, so week three was a success.
I don't feel like this is as hard because there is so much to do for free here. Calder and I can stay busy without spending money. It is so nice. It also helps the weather has been warmer so we can spend time at parks instead of malls.
How was your THIRD week of the Spending Fast? This next week is your last week! Yay!

OK, I have to "fess up". I was a complete failure this week. I didn't purchase anything but I did end up eating out a couple of times. I already told you about the ice cream, and then there was a birthday get-together for a friend that involved all of us going out to lunch.-----So, I was in the middle of typing this when Jason called and when told him all of this he jokingly chastised me, (I think it was jokingly) so I have to really step it up this week. This has been harder than I ever imagined. I had no idea my social life was so centered around lunch celebrations and potlucks. A group of women are coming to my house tomorrow to do a craft project and we are doing a salad potluck for lunch. My "money suck" is not shopping, its social activities. That is what I am learning from this exercise.
Week 3 was another success. It does help that I'm on "modified bedrest" and can't really do anything else, but the fact that I've made it this far without going out to eat is a true miracle!
I'll be honest I'm not budgeting my grocery shopping very well. I've never made it a week without going over $50 and this week will be no exception because I need to go to Costco tomorrow, but those aren't the restrictions a big, fat pregnant lady can really set. So considering my only spending has been gas and groceries, I'm happy with how things are going.
Oh, but the bar is this week, so I have a feeling we'll be going out to eat to celebrate when it's all over (I didn't tell Greg again about the fast). We'll see.
If it was just me spending money, I could say that I kept our budget under $200 this month. Shaun was thrilled about the idea of me saving so much money this month, but not so thrilled about the lack of snacks in our house. His solution was to stop by the store on the way home from work and spend $20 on treats every now and then. And I cheated and bought an excersaucer at the thrift store because it was just what I needed for violet and I didn't know how long it would be there for. And while we were in there we saw CandyLand too... All in all, I can at least say I spent less money this month than last month. I consider it a success.
I know I've been missing from the updates, but I finally updated my progress on my blog. Glad to hear you are doing so well with your goals.
