National Archives

We went to the National Archives this last week. It was my first time and I was so glad we went when we did. The above pictures aren't mine. You aren't allowed to take pictures inside the building and it was just too cold to stop to get a good exterior picture, but I thought you should see what it looks like.

There weren't any lines. It was awesome. We just walked around, looked at what we wanted and then went to the basement cafeteria for lunch. We packed our own since we're doing the Nothing New and February Spending Fast. Calder loved it. If you ask him about the National Archives he will tell you about the candy room (the cafeteria had a bunch of candy machines) and the men working in a manhole in the sidewalk right outside the building. The Decleration of Independence and Bill of Rights aren't nearly as impressive when you're two.
They had a bunch of previously printed posters all over the cafeteria walls. This was from 1943. I love it.

Since I went to DC on a high school field trip, I didn't really pay attention to all the places we went, but I think we did go here. I do know we didn't venture down to the cafeteria though! That sounds fun.
