The Crib

I had the greatest day. It's nice to be back home and enjoying Chicago again. I did miss it. Of course, San Diego was heavenly but there's something nice about going home to your stuff and regular apartment.

It's also been great getting ready for Baby Sven. We're staying in our one bedroom apartment this year and have very limited space. So Sven's room will be our dining room closet for this first year. I found the greatest mini crib on craigslist! It's not my normal design style but I do love it. I love it a lot. We picked it up today and put it together. I can't wait to get everything all set up for him. Now that we're back in Chicago I think the nesting instinct has been released! I spend the day unpacking and organizing. I still have a bit to go but I'm happy with the progress.

I'm Lovin' It

There are quite a few things I've been loving lately, so I thought I'd share them with you.

I'm loving that strawberries are in season. They're cheap and local and delicious. I eat some every day! The other night Jason had strawberries for dinner. It's hard to beat a truly fresh strawberry.

I'm loving the way I feel so healthy. It helps that I get to go outside and walk with Deebo. We still do it 2-3 times a day. We both enjoy it. I also get to go swimming a lot, which is great. I realized the other day that I haven't had a headache since JANUARY! Yep, no joke. I feel like a strong healthy pregnant woman. :) And, although I am seven months pregnant I still feel like I can do everything I want to do (except take surfing lessons).

I'm loving my last week in San Diego. We went out to dinner on Tuesday with some associates at Fish & Richardson. It was Jason's farewell dinner and we went to Ruth's Chris Steak House. Yummy. If you haven't had their cheesecake you should. I'm not kidding when I say it is the best I've ever had. I've spent the rest of the week finishing up crafty things and getting us ready to go. We're all packed and this apartment looks better than when we got here. That makes me feel good.

I'm loving the new Heather Bailey fabric. This seems like a lame thing to love but I do. It's called Pop Garden and has a lot of lovely colors. This would make great skirts or baby blankets. If you love it too and want to have some for free visit Vintage Chic Boutique.

I'm loving the free time that Jason has these days. He has been able to read leisure books and everything this summer. It's so nice.

I'm loving the Olympics. Well, mostly loving the Olympics. There is one small thing that drives me crazy. The commentators. Yep, I would rather watch without sound. They are so annoying!

I'm loving all the stuff I was able to accomplish this summer. When I get back I'll take pictures of all my little projects. It's been a lot of fun to learn new skills. Danielle introduced me to the greatest fabric store ever. It is called Bev's. They have a great selection of modern designer fabric. Yum.

Surf Lessons

Tonight Jason had surfing lessons with Max & Danielle. It was a lot of fun and I was so incredibly jealous. I can't wait to come back so I too can participate. I was impressed how well everyone did.

Belly

I'm 28 weeks today and thought I would share a few belly shots. It doesn't feel like I should be this far along. It has been incredibly easy being pregnant. I certainly don't feel like I'm in my third trimester. I'm sure it will get harder from here.

Off To The Races

Jason and I went to the Del Mar Races today! It was a lovely way to spend a Thursday afternoon. We ate lots of food and enjoyed picking favorite horses to win the races. This is right after walking in, they rope off the walkway when a horse walks by. They are beautiful horses for sure!
A few action shots. I love how excited everyone gets at the races! There is a lot of cheering and arms in the air.

Hot Air Ballooning

Jason and I got to go hot air ballooning a while ago and had a great time! Here's a few pictures from our adventure. Plus there's the bonus of a belly picture. (Just for you Melanie!)

Sven's Blessing Outfit

I put my mom in charge of the blessing outfit. If we were having a girl she would have just worn mine but since we're having a boy that simply won't do. We talked about it when we were both in Utah for the holiday weekend and decided he would look smashing in a tux. I'm sure of it. Plus he'll be born in October and we need something warmer. She went shopping after I came home and I just got these pictures. Isn't a baby tux the cutest thing?!! She got a steal of a deal and I couldn't be happier. What 6 week old doesn't want to wear a bow tie?

Fast Labor

I've recently realized that my family tends to have quick labors. I say that because I always knew the amount of time my mom spent at the hospital etc. I just didn't know how long most people spent there.

My mom's first baby was born three and a half hours after her water broke. She didn't know she was in labor before then. Her second baby was born before my dad could make it to the hospital and I was born after 5-7 contractions. I must say, my mom is a bit of a superwoman because my youngest brother was born breech without any pain medication. Yeah, she rocks.

My sister went to her routine appointment at 37 weeks and found out she was dilated to a six already, didn't even know she was in labor and proceeded to dilate and have the baby a few hours later. Yes, it's true. *Don't read the above as painless. She did eventually have lots and lots of pain.

I don't know exactly what my expectation should be, but I have heard that labor length is somewhat genetic. I'm actually thrilled to hear this. I've heard it's more painful to be quick but it sounds nice to be done in a few hours. Maybe I'm just an impatient dork, but for what it's worth, I am now looking forward to seeing what happens. Just 16 weeks to go!

I start Bradley birthing classes on Tuesday. I'm a bit nervous but mostly excited. We have to attend two classes each week for three weeks so we can fit them all in before going back to Chicago. It will definitely be worth it.

Do you like my clothes? Do you want them for....free?!

I love this blog! I also very much love the idea! Check it out...

ReproDepot

My all time favorite fabric store is ReproDepot.com. It is simply incredible. They have so many fabrics that I 'need'. This is a new one called Echino Scooters. It is so cute. I think Baby Sven would very much like a blanket out of it. And heck, while I'm at it, maybe I'll throw together a little onesie and pant set to match.

At some point kids request you stop making their clothes. I am hoping to be able to make a lot of clothes and accessories for him before he reaches that point.

4 Happy Years

Today is our four year anniversary. I can't believe it has been this long. We have been having such a good time! In those four years we have moved four times, adopted a dog, been to Sweden and Denmark, moved to Chicago and made it 2/3 of the way through law school.

I've known Jason for nine and a half years. I love him more every day and he makes me want to be a better person. I feel so blessed to have him as my husband. It's been a great time and I can't wait to see what the future brings.
