Spending Fast Week 4

I had a great week! I spend $45.93 at the grocery store. The temptation to spend has definitely waned and I've learned to live without a few things. It feels good. I am excited to finish my spending fast but have learned quite a few things. I'll do a final recap on Thursday.

So Lauren & Lorraine how did you do? And Jeannie, how has your first week of writing it down gone?

Nice work! That's some good saving! My list keeping has put some things in perspective, so thanks again for the idea. I am almost ready to start my own spending fast for a month. I gave it a go (on a small scale) last week with my grocery shopping. It felt really good!

I just checked your blog and am so proud of you for doing great with your spending. I have to admit I haven't done as well. It's been a challenge because I don't have a whole lot of time on my feet right now to really go to great lengths to make all of the savings, but I want to do it in the future. Way to go, girl.

I think your spending fast idea is a great lesson! I honestly don't think I could do it as diligently as you did, esp. with grocery costs, but I think it is always a good idea to try to cut back on spending as much as possible. For myself I have found that these last several months of our unemployment period have been tough. At first all I wanted to do was shop for things I couldn't have or didn't need! But as time has gone by the temptation has significantly decreased and I try to only buy things I really need. I'm glad it got easier for you, but the month is almost over! Yay! Give yourself a big pat on the back for finishing your goal!

Yay! Well done, Cami! I survived the last week, no grocery shopping at all. I did throw a last minute birthday party for the twins and had to spend money there and the last couple of days was spent getting ready for the big move. (We're in Texas now.) It was perfect timing for the spending fast because just in the drive and first day here alone, things have gotten expensive!!! I think we've already made up for all the money we saved, so THANK YOU!!! I really would not have had the motivation (or even thought) to do it on my own.

Can you do this like once a year?

Lauren, I'm so glad you made it. And heck, even if you did spend everything you saved just imagine what it would be like if you didn't do the spending fast!

And seriously, birthday parties don't count. I would have justified that. They only turn two once.

Yeah, I think I could totally do this every year. We'll plan on it!
