Maternity Clothes

I don't know how millions of women have dealt with maternity clothes sizing in the past. Maybe I'm just missing something but everywhere I've looked they have S, M, and L. Hello? Why wouldn't pregnant women want clothes that fit really well just like other women. I don't think any of us can walk into a store and pick up one of three sizes of pants and expect them to fit. And who is going to pay for tailoring their maternity clothes. Maybe I'll start altering / making more clothes.

If anyone knows where to locate clothing that comes with a number size, please let me know.

Have you tried Gap maternity? The store on Michigan Ave has a pretty good selection. Their best selection is obviously on-line and I heard you can send the clothes back for free if they don't fit.

So my only advice for maternity clothes is this: don't go cheap on EVERYTHING. I did for my first because I couldn't fathom spending much on clothes I would only wear for a few months and I hated how I looked the entire time. And, invest in a few good pieces that you can wear through all of your pregnancies. Just my two cents. I can talk to you about names of places later.

I went to Gap Maternity and they have stuff in sizes. I went to one in the 'burbs, and it had a huge clearance section as well. But...the pants I thought would be great don't really fit me well. I also got some jeans from Motherhood maternity I thought would be wonderful, but they really don't fit at all! So make sure you get pants that fit well and are comfortable! that's my best advice right now. (I found a couple pair at Old Navy I really like, but they are sold in sizes xs, sm, m, l.)

You're going to pregnant in the summer like I was. It makes the maternity clothes thing easy. I lived in cotton skirts. Sooo comfortable and cute. Just find some with an elastic waist and you're good to go.

I also vote Gap Maternity. Their clothes fit well. Huge online selection and good sales. And I agree with Amy. I'd rather buy fewer clothes that are cute and of good quality. I only have about 2 shirts that I want to wear from my last pregnancy because I only bought clearance stuff. This time I have a few good things that I wear every other day, but at least I feel good in them.
